This is my friend Krystal. I loved what she had to say about yoga today, so I am sharing her post. “I got into a conversation with some people at work yesterday about yoga and I wasn’t surprised when they said, “I tried that once and I’m bad at it.” Or “I just am not flexible”
Not only was I not surprised, but I was sad for them. Yoga has been so Americanized and apparently the teachers aren’t spreading the right message. Even sometime I scroll through my IG or FB news feed and see all these “perfect yogis” in all these crazy poses and think “wow, I will never be able to do that”
But that doesn’t make my practice any less yoga. Yoga is about connecting your body and your mind with your spirit. Connecting your breath to your movement and calming thoughts, so you can be truly present with yourself. There are some days that I just lay in child’s pose .... and that’s ok. The more you allow yourself time and space, the more you will be amazed at what you CAN do.
Now maybe yoga is Not for everyone, but I stress that it is a PRACTICE there is not right or wrong. And there is no “perfect yogi”
